As a group of avid readers in the LRP team we are very happy to have recently expanded our book offering online and in the showroom. We knew you would be interested in finding out more about some of the wonderful authors and illustrators who have created the ones we've selected. All books have a Hong Kong theme whether it be written or illustrated by someone who lives here or is about the city, the stories and the history of the place so many of us call home.
This time we meet Linda Quach Hughes, author of Where's Mister Dumpling?
About you
My name is Linda Quach, I am a graphic designer and a mother of a 3 year old son.
I was born and raised in France and moved to Hong Kong early 2008.
The initial plan was to stay for a year or two. Many years later, I am still here and not planning to leave anytime soon!
Where is Mister Dumpling? is a graphic book to discover and enjoy the iconic features of Hong Kong in a fun way. Through the pages you get to learn about some interesting historical and cultural facts and to play Seek & Find with Mister Dumpling who is hiding in the mesmerising pages representing Hong Kong.
Your Inspiration
My inspiration was obviously Hong Kong but all cities in general and more specifically what define their charm and soul.
That is why I am planning to grow the series with:
Where is Madam Baguette for Paris?
Where is Mister Fish & Chips for London?
Where is Madam Sushi for Tokyo? and so on.
My other inspiration was my son and his obsession for Hong Kong Taxis (hence the cover!)
Favourite thing to do or see in Hong Kong
Spending an entire day on a boat with friends, enjoying the view of the sun setting down over the IFC tower on the way back and feeling lucky to live in Hong Kong.
